Before Your Bring In Your MacBook For Service Please Read
Before bringing in your MacBook for service if you can, back up all of your data. You can use Time Machine if you would like, but we prefer our customers copy data to an external hard drive, or upload it to iCloud, or both if possible. The more important the data on your MacBook is, the more diligent you will need to be about backing it up, and making sure everything important is backed up. This means checking your backed up data occasionally to make sure your backups are complete.
If you decide to bring in and leave your MacBook with us for service, and we need to reload your MacOs, or install a new hard drive, it will save us time, and you money if we do not need to worry about making sure you get all of your data backed up.
In many cases a customer’s MacBook, or iMac will not boot up, or they can’t log in because of a keyboard, or different kind of problem. Even then, we can almost always back up, or recover their data if necessary.
The important thing is for our customers to back up their important data if at all possible before bringing us their MacBook for service.
Bring In Your ChargerWe may need to test your MacBook's charger, power issues, or battery charging, and for this we prefer to use the customer's adapter. MacBooks are very finnicky when it comes to their MagSafe adapters, and many MacBooks will work with one adapter just fine, but not with an identical one. For proper testing we prefer to use the customer's charger for final testing to make 100% sure everything is working properly. We always test battery charging when MacBook repairs are complete, and we prefer doing testing with the customer's MagSafe adapter to be sure.
